ARBIE GOINGS Bio
2/6/2014 Mr. Goings has thirty years experience working in the funeral industry and since 1998 has deployed and responded to mass fatality incidents throughout the United States and Haiti with the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT) as a Mortuary Officer. He was appointed the Administrative Officer for the DMORT, Victim Information Center Team (formally the Family Assistance Center Team) in 2005. With over 10 years experience in mass fatality work, his career includes many notable responses including 9/11, American Airlines flight 587, Comair flight 5191, Continental Airlines flight 3407, the Columbia Space Shuttle search operations and several hurricane relief efforts including Katrina, Rita, Gustav Ike and Isaac. Mr. Goings has broad based knowledge and years of experience in mass fatality response operations,— including responsibility for human remains recovery operations and directing the establishment and daily operations of both family assistance centers and temporary morgue operations. He was recognized by the U.S. State Department for his work in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. His contributions to numerous mass fatality incidents has earned him industry-wide recognition. Mr. Goings founded his own consulting firm in 2006 and later aligned himself with an international firm. based in the Washington, D.C. metro area to provide mass fatality planning and response services. Mr. Goings is an instructor with NorthWest Arkansas Community College, Institute for Corporate and Public Safety. He delivers mass fatality courses, which he developed through the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC), designed specifically for rural communities and funeral directors. For over a decade, Mr. Goings has been called upon to speak on subjects related to mass fatality response operations throughout the nation and continues to work on a part-time basis for the oldest family owned funeral home in Baton Rouge, where he has been employed since 1982. All Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) courses have been certified by the US Department of Homeland Security.
